The Rising Sun is the first campaign level of Call of Duty: 1945. It is a brief mission that takes place on the island of Iwo Jima during the invasion. The first part serves mainly as training with the latter serving as a combat level.
Mission Overview[]
The player begins the level on a landing craft going toward the beach at Iwo Jima. After the boat makes land and the Marines get off, there is no resistance. The players squad makes their way up the beach and into the jungle, along the way the player is taught the controls for the game. After walking through the jungle for some time the players squad comes under heavy fire and takes cover behind a fallen tree. A grenade then lands next to the player and they try to throw it back, but it explodes next to them, causing them to black out, ending the mission.
